Ruby Pink Rubber Plant
Scientific Name
Ficus elastica 'Ruby'
Family
Moraceae
Native Region
South and Southeast Asia
Growth Rate
Moderate
Origin + Story
Sometimes labeled 'Ruby Pink' or 'Pink Ruby' at retail. The variegated cousin of the standard rubber plant. Pink coloration intensifies with brighter light.
Same species as the Burgundy and Tineke, native to South and Southeast Asia. The variegation is a cultivar selection, propagated for its pink, cream, and green marbling.
Cream, pink, and green marbling on broad, oval leaves. New growth comes in pink, deepens to cream, then settles into the marbled adult color. A slow reveal.
Grows well alongside cream and clay tones, mid-tone wood, soft natural light, anywhere the variegation can catch the eye.

Light: Bright indirect light. More is better for the pink to hold.
Water: When the top inch of soil is dry.
Humidity: 40 to 60% is ideal.
Temperature: 60 to 80°F.
Soil: Well-draining houseplant mix.
Growth Rate: Moderate.

Watering
Top inch dry, then water thoroughly.

Aim for 40 to 60% for the best leaf development.
